Multi - level outdoor kitchen

A couple in Chesapeake VA contacted Brickstone to design their outdoor kitchen. They had an extremely beautiful backyard. Their backyard included a pool, Koi pond and luscious tropical landscaping.  They had an area off to the side, which was underutilized but a very accessible spot, just somewhat small and its elevation would be a challenge. Sometimes the best spot for an outdoor kitchen isn’t necessarily the best spot for kitchen. In this case it was just about the only spot. Brickstone Studios was up for the challenge.  We started working with our client to come up with a design that would meet their requirements and look stunning.

We first had to confront several issues of elevation and sloping. If we were to build a kitchen with a standard 36” counter height and a 42” bar counter and bar stools were placed on the pool deck, that was sloped for drainage, the bar would have been 47” at one end of the deck and 54” at the other!
We did something quite unique. We actually dropped the bar counter (island) to 32” on the inside for dinning style seating and 37” bar seating on the pool deck. (Because we were on a 5” elevated deck now). Our customer took care of finding the right barstool, with a 24” seat height (normal is 28”).
Our customer now has a one of a kind multi – level outdoor kitchen that was designed and built for them and their individual needs. Sometimes you just have to think outside box.
