Last week we had a request for a Norfolk mermaid which was to be given as a thank you/ farewell gift. Admiral Luciano Zappata, Deputy Supreme Allied Commander Transformation was presented with thi
s Norfolk mermaid by the Staff of ACT. The gift was presented by the Command Sergeant Kolesa on behalf of the ACT staff. A symbol of Norfolk, the mermaid was painted by Marysharon Melchiorre with the flags of the US (symbolizing the host nation), the NATO logo (place of duty); and Italy (home country). Admiral and Mrs. Zappata will be returning Italy after serving three years in the Hampton Roads Area. Brickstone Studios was very much honored to have our cast stone mermaid chosen as the gift. Our mermaids can be see all over town and now, overseas!! We also had a request for one this summer from a military family who was returning to Germany after being stationed here for 3 years. They wanted it to have a Virginia theme and wanted it done in mosaic tile, similar to ones in the Brickstone Studios showroom. Marysharon, who does a lot of mosaic mermaids, did this one in greens and turquoise; put a cardinal (state bird) on her hand and a dogwood bloom (state flower) in her hair. Visit our showroom to see our extensive collection of cast stone mermaids!!
